Why
Microplane graters are made of etched stainless steel, which can be damaged by harsh dishwasher detergents and high heat, potentially dulling the blades. The plastic handles may also warp or degrade over time in the dishwasher. Most manufacturers recommend hand washing to preserve sharpness and longevity.
How to wash it
Hand wash with warm soapy water and a brush to clean the grating surface, then rinse and dry immediately. Avoid abrasive sponges that could dull the blades.
