About & Methodology
Is It Dishwasher Safe? answers one question as clearly as possible: can this go in the dishwasher? We cover 286 common products, from tumblers and cookware to gadgets and baby gear.
How we determine each answer
- Manufacturer guidance first. For brand-name products, we go to the maker's official care instructions and FAQs — what the company itself says about dishwasher use.
- Material science second. For generic items (wood, cast iron, silicone, glass, melamine…), the answer comes from how the material reacts to dishwasher heat, detergent, and moisture.
- We err on the side of longevity. “Technically survives a cycle” and “the maker recommends it” are different things — we tell you which one you're getting.
What the verdicts mean
- Dishwasher safe — go ahead (we note top-rack-only where it matters).
- Sometimes — with care — it depends on the model, material, or which part; read the details.
- Not dishwasher safe — hand wash to avoid damage.
The “Verified” badge
Pages marked ✓ Verified have been cross-checked against the manufacturer's official guidance or settled material-science consensus — 54 of 286so far. Pages without it are well-researched drafts we're still confirming; we're working through the list continuously.
Always check your specific product's care label. Manufacturers change designs, and a finish, lid, or coating can shift the answer. When the label and our page disagree, trust the label.
Spotted something wrong? That feedback is gold — we'd rather fix a verdict than be confidently incorrect. Some product links on this site are affiliate links.
