Why
Melamine is a hard plastic resin. Contrary to a common myth, most modern melamine dinnerware (especially A5-grade) is labeled top-rack dishwasher safe — the warping people remember is really the microwave rule, where melamine should never go. Lower-quality or heavily decorated pieces can still dull or warp over many high-heat cycles.
How to wash it
Top rack only, away from the heating element, on a normal or gentle cycle. Skip the high-heat 'sanitize' setting, and never microwave melamine.
