Why
Immersion blenders consist of a motor housing (plastic/metal) that is not waterproof and a detachable blending shaft (stainless steel). The motor unit can be damaged by water, so it must be hand-wiped only. The shaft and any removable attachments are usually dishwasher safe, but check the manual as some models recommend hand washing to preserve the blade edge.
