Why
Most double boilers are made of stainless steel or aluminum, which are dishwasher safe, but the high heat and harsh detergents can damage the non-stick coating if present, and may cause discoloration or warping in thin metals. Additionally, the separate pot and insert design can trap water, leading to rust or mineral buildup.
How to wash it
Hand wash with mild soap and a soft sponge, then dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the surface.
