Cleavers are generally not recommended for the dishwasher, but some stainless steel models may be safe.
Why
Most cleavers have wooden handles that can crack or warp in the dishwasher, and the high heat can dull the blade. Even full stainless steel cleavers may suffer from edge damage due to water jets and contact with other items.
How to wash it
Hand wash with warm water and mild soap, then dry immediately. Avoid soaking and never put in the dishwasher.
